TZILI CHARNEY

Founder, The Charney Resolution Center

Tzili Charney is a curator, costume designer, producer, and philanthropist. As a philanthropist, she is devoting all her efforts to improving the fields of education, conflict resolution, and peace. 

She upholds her late husband’s position as Chairman of his real estate business at L.H. Charney Associates in New York, and continued his diplomatic legacy by founding the Charney Resolution Center in Israel in his honor. The resolution center welcomes students from all over the world and is dedicated to educating future generations on both peace negotiation and diplomacy. Her mission with the Center is to motivate and empower young people to pursue peaceful resolutions to conflicts wherever they are in the world.

 Tzili serves as Vice Chairman of the University of Haifa’s Board of Governors. In 2019 she established the Charney Forum for New Diplomacy with the University of Haifa. Her vision for this is to deliver the message of New Diplomacy to institutions, governments, and organizations worldwide. Tzili’s motto: “The only permanent element in all of our lives is change.”

SARI MAROM-SHAANAN

Director, The Charney Resolution Center

Born and raised in Jerusalem, she was very active in the youth movement "Dror HaMahanot HaOlim" where her social and political views took shape.

Sari Marom-Shaanan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Master’s Degree with Honors in Educational Counseling from the University of Tel-Aviv. Her career began as an educational consultant in one of Tel-Aviv’s high schools. Followed by her returning to the IDF as an organizational consultant. As part of her service, she directed a unit centered around dealing with population behavior during emergencies. Since retiring from the IDF as a lieutenant colonel, she has been an organizational consultant to this day.

As the director of the CRC, Sari advances the center's mission in order to achieve more effective results in promoting close ties between Israeli and Palestinian youth. As an activist, she is involved in promoting issues related to peace in our region and advocating for social democracy. Utilizing all of these tools, Sari remains driven to bring about change.
