Director’s Assistant Intern - Yael Filus

Tell us a little about yourself? Your name, age, and how you came to know about the Charney Resolution Center.

Hi :) My name is Yael and I am 20 years old. When I was in DP2 (senior year) I was one of the leaders of the Peace Simulation CAS. The Peace Simulation is one of the more intense weeks in the “EMIS experience” and where CRC and EMIS get to collaborate and work closely in tandem.

What’s the weirdest food you have eaten?

Does peanut butter and quinoa count?

Do you have any hidden talents?

I am an excellent book “chooser”.

 An interesting fact about yourself?

I am terrified of drowning and yet my summertime hobby is scuba diving.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I’ve always dreamed to have a career in the academia, so hopefully I’d like to be in university, probably studying neuroscience or philosophy.

What will your position be as an intern at CRC?

Coming September I will be working with CRC’s Director, Sari. I will be coordinating the Peace Simulation CAS and Mission week, and spreading CRC’s message in Israel and all around the world.

What is your attitude towards this internship? What are some things you are looking forward to?

It would be interesting to experience Mission Week and the Peace Simulation through a different lens - as an intern and not as a student. This role would demand more maturity and dedication than previously, yet I look forward to being the person that the students approach to when they need an advice, like I had done when I was a student.

How will you grow as a person from this experience?

This is the first time in my life in which I am entrusted with so much responsibility. And even though I find that a tad intimidating, I actually look forward to see how that will shape me as person. I think this position requires social awareness, objectivity, and creativeness; all of which I hope to hone and achieve along this experience.

What is one question you would like to answer through this internship?

What is the nature of conflicts, objective or sujective?
