THE 2022 PEACE SIMULATION

The New Peace Simulation Committee Introduction
By: Sara Zajicova, Head of The Committee

As the new year begins, I am excited welcome a new generation to the CRC Peace Simulation. The new simulation committee, which will organize this year’s event, has been hard at work this month under the supervision of the CRC Director Sari Marom-Sha’anan. I welcome Adea, Noa, Mika, and Tawfeeq to the team and I look forward to working with all of them.

During the committee’s first meeting, everyone shared their past experiences with the Peace Simulation as well as their hopes for what the project might look like in 2022.

In particular, we all agreed to continue with the new negotiation structure from last year and we hope to improve the level of information and training the participants receive prior to the event. The committee also thought about how we can all explore the emotional connection that individuals have to the conflict.

I’m very pleased with all the great new ideas and I look forward to seeing them come to fruition!

Adea

My name is Adea Begaj. I come from Albania and I’m currently finishing my studies in Israel. Being part of the Peace Stimulation feels like an opportunity for me to represent my ideas and opinions regarding the mission of the simulation. I want the students that join this experience to feel the same amount of curiosity and interest I did my first time joining. To use the knowledge that they gain in order to find their own pursuit and definition of peace through any tool which helps self-expression. To me, this is the most important thing - gaining the ability and confidence to shape your own idea of peace through creation and teamwork. I hope that I get the chance to see this in the new generations!

Noa

I am Noa, a current DP2 from Germany and Israel, and I came to EMIS because of the mission to bring Israelis, Palestinians, and Internationals together to work and think towards peace and coexistence. This is why the Peace Simulation is so important, because it perfectly embodies the school’s mission. It offers students and young adults, who are creative and open-minded, a platform to come up with unconventional and innovative solutions that can set an example for peacemaking decisions in the Middle East. Everyone involved is stimulated to think critically and cooperatively which shows the importance of it.

Mika

Hey! My name is Mika and I came to EMIS as a Pre-DP. Throughout my time here I got to learn and understand new narratives to the story I was taught about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. EMIS allowed me to make new lifelong friends from all over this land, and beyond it. I think that the mission of EMIS and the CRC is very important and I want to take part in actions that are meant to develop it. While being at EMIS I was able to discover more about myself by looking at the conflict from a different perspective. The peace simulation is a concept that allows students to truly be aware of the current situation of the conflict and I believe that by trying to solve it and looking at practical problems we are able to develop our thinking and become more knowledgeable about the place in which we live. I joined to committee because my experience from last year really made me think about what the conflict is and what are the things that can be done in order to solve it. In the simulation, I really value the fact that we as students from the Middle East and all over the world can come together and put in an effort to solve something much bigger.

Tawfeeq

Hi! My name is Tawfeeq, I’m an Arab citizen of Israel,16 years old and am a student of EMIS. I have been very curious about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and politics in general from a young age. I decided to join the Peace Simulation Committee to try to implement new ideas to simulate and shape a future that’s best for both sides involved in it and present the Israeli and Palestinian demands and disagreements with transparency and equality.
